A Message From Head of School

Dear Alcuin Families,

I am writing to let you know that after 14 incredible years of serving as your Head of School, I have decided that the 2024-25 academic year will be my last.
In June of 2025, my wife Beth and I will begin enjoying the next phase of our lives: retirement.

Serving you and your children at this extraordinary school has been the privilege of my life. Alcuin families have always been a source of inspiration for me and have played a critical role in elevating Alcuin to where it is today. You are the most committed, dedicated group of moms and dads I have ever known.

Whether volunteering at a garden party or taking the lead on a campus-wide event, all of you, in collaboration with a world-class faculty and staff, have helped make the Alcuin promise a reality for your children.

I especially want to thank those who have served in the Parents’ Club. I have seen countless first-hand examples of how Alcuin has benefited from your time, talent, and labor of love. I will remain forever grateful for the work you have done to build this community of Hawk parents.

I want to express my gratitude to the Board of Trustees for their invaluable guidance and counsel during my time here at Alcuin. I look forward to supporting them as they begin the search for a new Head of School. Paul Tagg, our board chair, will be introducing the Search Committee in the coming days, which will be charged with locating and hiring our next Head of School.

Again, thank you for all you have done to make Alcuin the incredible school it is today.

Sincerely,

Walter Sorensen
