Montessori Primary Care Program (MPC) offers care for Alcuin School Primary students after school. The emphasis of the program is to generate a sense of family and community and to deal with the practical daily needs of children of this age: outside play, the noon meal, nap, and free choice of work or play. This busy but predictable schedule provides a sense of security so important to this age group. This program is open to families where both parents work and need care for their child five days a week. MPC is open the full day (8:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.) for those children registered on conference days and in-services days.
The afternoon routine at MPC involves lunch, naps for the younger group and resting time for the older group, outside play, snack between 3:30-4:00 p.m. and lots of fun. Every day we have music and movement and story time. Children do science experiments, exploration of nature, art projects, have access to many art mediums, sewing and weaving projects and many games.
The different options are: 11:30 a.m. -3:30 p.m., 11:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. or 3:00-6:00 p.m.
