As an authorized IB World School, Alcuin students in 6th level through Upper School follow the internationally recognized standards and practices governed by the International Baccalaureate Organization® (IB) in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 1966, the IB assures authorized World Schools meet international benchmarks for quality education. IB educators are specifically trained to develop the student’s natural curiosity.
The IB organization uses the talents of educators around the world to continuously update curriculum, train educators, and evaluate programs. The IB pedagogy inspires exemplary teaching and learning. The ability to think critically, work collaboratively, communicate effectively and solve complex problems distinguishes graduates of IB World Schools.
The International Baccalaureate is more than its educational programs and certificates. IB’s reputation for quality comes from the organization’s ability to work with partners and involve all stakeholders, particularly students, parents, and educators. Through these partnerships, the IB promotes intercultural understanding and respect, not as an alternative to a sense of cultural and national identity, but as an essential part of life. The IB Learner Profile demonstrates the personal and educational attributes students, educators and IB communities intentionally develop. They represent the Alcuin School Mission Statement and the International Baccalaureate Organization® Mission Statement in action.
