Tolleson brings his experience to Alcuin School with plans to develop a world-class competitive robotics program here, available for students ages 6 to 18. In just his second year here, that vision is already on the way to becoming a reality.
Terry Tolleson has been teaching MYP Design and Mechanical Engineering at Alcuin School since the Fall of 2022. He is married and has three children, one of whom is an Alcuin student.
Before joining the Alcuin team, Tolleson was Department Head of the Academy of Engineering and Computer Science at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, where he taught and served in various leadership positions for ten years.
One of Tolleson’s biggest passions within education is exposing students to incredible opportunities, whether it is through the avenue of competitive robotics or traveling around the world to learn from other cultures. From 2013 to 2022, Tolleson was the lead coach of the Woodrow Wilson High School FRC Robotics team, winning the inaugural Texas UIL State Championship in 2016, and advancing to three consecutive World Championships.
He brings his experience to Alcuin School with plans to develop a world-class competitive robotics program here, available for students ages 6 to 18. In just his second year here, that vision is already on the way to becoming a reality.
Tolleson believes that 100% of students in STEM and Robotics fields can 'go pro'. He is also leading a 9-day immersive STEM and cultural experience tour of Japan in the Summer 2025 with about 50 Alcuin Middle and Upper School students.
When he is not teaching, he cherishes spending quality time with his family and actively engaging with his church. At home, his sanctuaries are the kitchen, where he crafts custom recipes, and the home gym, where he attempts to maintain his fitness to keep pace with an energetic 4-year-old son.
