Sim's favorite trip was a visit to the African Safari in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Steven Sim has been with Alcuin since 2021 as the Upper School Global Politics teacher. He also teaches the 9th grade Government and Economics class. Sim previously worked in the Dallas Independent School District for ten years prior, teaching AP Human Geography, US History and Texas History. Before moving into education, he was a Social Work Officer with the Royal Canadian Navy, where he discovered his passion for global politics and international affairs.
Other than traveling to various locations in Canada, the United States, and Mexico, Sim, and his wife Dania (a native of Monterrey, Mexico) have also traveled to Aruba, Brazil, Dominican Republic, France, Jamica, Nassau, South Africa, and Spain. His favorite trip was a visit to the African Safari in Kruger National Park, South Africa and spotting the Big 5 (lion, leopard, black rhinoceros, African bush elephant, and African buffalo).
Sim has a son, Santiago, entering the Lower School at Alcuin this year. Santiago will also start playing on a hockey team this year after completing the Dallas Starts Little Rookies and Pre-Hockey programs. When not at the hockey arena, Sim is an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Blue Jays, and Newcastle United football club. He is a proud Canadian who has embraced his wife’s Hispanic culture and customs, while raising a son in the United States.
